B Lab develops standards, policies, tools, and programs that shift the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism. We mobilize the Benelux B Corp community towards collective action, and we collaborate with governments, academia, coalitions, and other institutions to drive economic systems change.
The European B Corp movement officially launched in 2015. Companies in The Netherlands and Belgium were one of the first ones to certify in Europe. Of 8,400+ B Corp certified companies worldwide, 1750+ are based in Europe of which 375+ in the Benelux. Moreover, more than 250,000 companies manage their impact with the B Impact Assessment and the SDG Action Manager.
As we aim for system change, all our initiatives are directed towards shifting the behavior, culture, and structure of capitalism. Take a look at some of our activities to get inspired!
The Benelux B Corp movement is an active community of 410+ companies with a shared vision to use their business as a force for good. These B Corps use their collective voice and action to rally together for systems changes on topics that matter most to them, eg. Climate Change, Inclusion and stakeholder governance.
To drive system change, we need to change the hearts and minds of citizens in the Benelux region. That’s why B Lab Benelux is actively campaigning, ranging from the ‘Its (y)our job’ campaign during COP26 to activating the wider B Corp community to raise our brand awareness during our annual ‘B Corp Month’.
‘The Interdependence Coalition’ is setting out to change company law at a European level, so we can truly unleash the power of business to be that force for good. To date our starting point is the Consultation on Sustainable Corporate Governance. Learn more about how this consultation fits into the European regulatory context here.
This program empowers individuals and organizations to use Business as a Force for Good. It includes a two-day training in B Corp principles and B Lab’s tools, followed by a Benelux B Leaders community membership with access to continuous learning.
The training is invitation- and application-based. Stay in the know by signing up.
In collaboration with the Municipality of Amsterdam, we designed a modular B Corp program to accelerate the ecosystem of purpose-driven business in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region.
Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. That is why B Lab Benelux gears up to initiate collaborations. We have partnered with Sacred Heart University in Luxembourg for the first MBeA program (Master in Benefit Administration), starting this spring. Besides, we are working with Utrecht University on several research projects related to sustainability.
You will find the dedicated B Lab Benelux Team at the SDG House – KIT (Mauritskade 62, Amsterdam). Feel welcome to drop by anytime for a cup of fair chain coffee!

The B Corp Certification for us is an external validation that we walk the talk. But most importantly, the B Impact Assessment (BIA) provides us with useful impact management tools and a roadmap for continuous improvement.
We have the ambition to increase our B Corp score year on year. We believe we can do a lot by ourselves, but we know we will be more successful with partners who have the same purpose like B Corps.
Overall the B Corp journey helped us tremendously to get going: we measured everything, made material choices, changed governance, adapted policies, set ambitious sustainability targets — in every part of our business. The process of certification was rigorous and made us fine-tune and dig deeper over and over again.
