About People Against Dirty

People Against Dirty is a company made up of two brands – method and Ecover – filled with fearless thinkers, mad scientists and adventurous designers who believe in defying the status quo with innovation and optimism. They take cleaning seriously – but not themselves. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in San Francisco, method (methodhome.com) is the pioneer of premium planet-friendly and design-driven home, fabric and personal care products. Formulated with naturally derived, biodegradable ingredients, method puts the hurt on dirt without doing harm to people, creatures or the planet. Also playing an important role at People Against Dirty is Ecover (ecover.com) the revered pioneering European-based line of ecological cleaning products that has had an enormous impact on the world of cleaning – and a positive impact on the environment – since its formation in 1980.

People Against Dirty runs its business in a values-driven manner, building social and environmental benefit into its products and everything it does. Being a B Corporation allows People Against Dirty to build that ethos into the legal backbone of the company so that those values will never be compromised.

People Against Dirty is in business to change business. In the same way they take the dirt out of cleaning, they strive to eliminate some of business's dirty practices. They believe their business practices and processes should be as clean as the products they make. In that spirit, People Against Dirty develop formulas and design their products to consider the past, present and future.

People Against Dirty believe in leaving the world better than they found it, working to restore their planet’s natural resources and benefit their communities as they grow as a business. It’s a bold ambition, so they created a blueprint to get there – a Benefit Blueprint, to be exact. Their Benefit Blueprint clearly maps out their goals and objectives to ensure that every day they are making decisions meant to improve people’s livelihoods and better their environment while creating a healthy business.

People Against Dirty relies on green chemistry to power their formulas. Their team of formulation chemists (known as green chefs) finds and develops advanced applications of innovative materials, relying on smart science rather than hazardous concentrations of conventional chemicals with unknown effects. Every material that People Against Dirty uses is assessed by an external material science firm to ensure health and environmental safety. They design their packaging to be truly closed loop – bottles made from plant-derived and post-consumer recycled plastic that in turn are recyclable. People Against Dirty also work with their suppliers to find ways to improve the environmental profile of their operations including dematerialization, renewable energy and water-free processes. People Against Dirty is also raising the bar in clean manufacturing with their legendary green factory in Belgium and the industry’s first LEED Platinum-certified manufacturing plant in Chicago, affectionately known as the South Side Soapbox.
